This FR will be brief because the title pretty much says it all, but I think it's still important to post.
I was having a pretty low energy day all in all and I stopped by a McDonalds at around 8ish on my way back to my place. At McDonalds I made an order but in front of me a cute Asian girl made an order and was waiting for it.
She got her order and went to sit down, and I could feel wanting to approach but having that AA kicking in.
SO, after my order came in I took it and walked over to her table and asked her
"Hey I know this is a bit unusual, but can I join you?"She agreed with
"oh yeah, sure" (though a bit hesitant, which is to be expected)
I actually felt so low energy though that I ejected with
"Actually, never mind" which was probably a weird experience for her.
That said, I left the place with a slightly better energy that walking in.
You might be wondering why I'm writing such an uneventful FR. The reasons are 3 fold
1) We've got a lot of new folks I noticed joining (which is good), I really want to show the simple "hey can I join you" does work. Not always, not 100%, but if I had to place a number I'd say 50% or so if you're not coming off just weird
2) Also for the same reason I think it's important to write out any boring FRs we have. This is a place where we want to normalize approaching and learning, not just succeeding (I'm not being prideful here, I'm still in the learning phase and FAR from always succeeding)
3) I think it's important to bust through AA whenever you feel you have the chance. I hear it never goes away but the more we confront it, the more it become manageable. I consider the very approach a win, so I decided to write about it (okay, I am being prideful I guess)
