Hey all. Noticed N2 on another thread mentioning to someone about getting into meditation, being present etc. Terms that have come up in my therapy sessions and as my mind is all over the place and currently not gaming i need something new to do/learn.
Meditation has always interested me, is there a top 3 books to start with or something, or a video to kickstart me?
Cheers!

Mastering the Core Teachings of the Buddha - An Unusually Hardcore Dharma Book by Daniel Ingram is my favorite. A Path with Heart by Jack Kornfield is also pretty cool. And The Science of Enlightenment by Shinzen Young totally rocks.

Jon Kabtzin's Mindfulness For Beginners is a good place to start.
Honestly you can make anything a meditative experience. Replace the word meditation for being intensely present/in the moment. That can mean something as menial as washing your hands focusing on how the water feels on your skin etc. Eating - focusing on the texture, taste etc of the food in your mouth. The key is to observe, devoid of any judgment (the ego).
You should also listen to Eckhart Tolle's book The Power of Now.

Thank you n2.
I've just started reading the power of now as it happens. Will plow on with it and also check out the other recommendations.
Noticed you said listen to it rather than read. Does it come across better in your opinion that way?

Oh I just prefer the audiobook easier for me to follow. I found the written word a bit too dense. I also find Eckhart's voice soothing much like listening to a magical hobbit.

Let’s revive this post. I have been into meditation since I was as little as 12 due to paranormal stuff that happened to me at that young age and still experience sometimes...
real meditation happens when you achieve the alpha level in your brain. reaching alpha is a little hard requires practice and discipline. When you reach Alpha level, is what they call a dynamic meditation this is where the magic happens magic meaning ability of tapping into your sixth sense anything is possible when you reach your alpha level.
change the outcome of an event. make something you want a reality with no effort at all telepathy telequinesis astral travels
have I used this?...yes works? Yes am I still use it? Yes why am I not rich lol!? Everyone has different needs and desires I guess mine is not being rich
to end this post, once you master this and if you ever does honestly is a lot of responsibility and you probably not quit but not use it as you think you would.so better to stick with soft meditation(relaxation)
Still interested then read this book.
the Silva method
is a good starter book to introduce you to the magic of the mind and levels of meditation.
