So the phrase 'oneitis' is pretty new to me. But i've seen a it come up a fair few times on some posts where people come here specifically to tackle the 'issue'. I'm curious as to what you guys think is the major cause of Oneitis. Has it ever happened to you? I'd say I definitely have had cases of something like it when I was younger, but never to the extent that some guys on here come on and talk about (like obsessive needing to text/talk to the person constantly or having sleepless nights over them). Do you guys think its becoming more freuquent?
Also, on first impression it doesn't seem all that different from 'simping', is there a major difference?

As is stated in the PUA terms and glossary:
"ONE-ITIS—noun: 1. an obsession with a girl whom one is not dating; pickup artists believe that such an extreme fixation on one woman significantly lowers a man's chances of dating or sleeping with her. 2. a girl with whom one is obsessed. Origin: John C. Ryan."
It's happened from time to time to me, but I knew what oneitis was before I had it, so I'm able to stay clear from that. I imagine the main reason is because of the feeling that the girl isn't replaceable. That can be because she's an "HB10" and you'll never get a girl like her or because the girl you talk to is the only female who'll give you attention.
I think simping is a much more recent term than oneitis, as far as I know it's possible to simp over multiple women.

I think obsession over something or someone you have no control over is a bad thing. In relationships it would probably lead to being needy or possessive which could create problems

One-nittis is disordered thinking and symptomatic of maligned attachment.
It’s one grade lower than Stalker, but it is always the precursor.
I imagine it’s correlated with people who struggle feeling control in their lives, specifically a low tolerance for sitting with uncertainty.
Ruminating (fixating) on one person/heavy perseveration of Thought. Quite possibly the result of early life emotional trauma(s). The target becomes the screen where upon these projections get cast .
The first thing to do is acknowledge the problem before it gets out of hand.
